New ECOWAS Court of Justice Leadership Visits Nigeria’s Permanent Representative to ECOWAS

The newly elected leadership of the ECOWAS Court of Justice, Honourable President Ricardo Cláudio Monteiro Gonçalves and Honourable Vice-President Sengu Mohamed Koroma, on 14 November 2024 paid a courtesy visit to Ambassador Musa Sani Nuhu, Nigeria’s Permanent Representative to ECOWAS.

Hon. President Gonçalves thanked Amb. Nuhu for the warm reception extended to the delegation and acknowledged Nigeria’s longstanding support for the Court. He affirmed his commitment to improved communication and collaboration between the Court and Nigeria’s Permanent Mission to ECOWAS. The President also stressed that the Court would work closely with the Mission to advance its mandate.

The Honourable Vice-President of the Court, Sengu Koroma, also indicated his optimism that a closer working relationship with the Mission would significantly reinforce the effectiveness of the Court’s operations. On his part, Amb. Nuhu expressed his gratitude for the visit and congratulated the Court’s new leadership on their recent election. He further expressed hope that the visit would advance a closer relationship between the Court and Nigeria’s Permanent Mission. He reiterated his commitment to supporting the Court’s new leadership and pledged to work collaboratively to ensure the success of the Court in achieving its mandate.
