 ECOWAS COURT HOLDS VALEDICTORY COURT SESSION FOR SIX RETIRING JUDGES

The Community Court of Justice, ECOWAS, held a valedictory court session in honour of the six retiring Members of the Court at the Seat of the Court in Abuja, Nigeria on the 12th of June, 2014. The retiring Community Court Judges are Hon. Justice Awa Nana Daboya (Togo), President of the Court and pioneer Judge; Hon. Justice Benfeito Mosso Ramos (Cape Verde), Vice-President of the Court; Hon. Justice Hansine Donli (Nigeria), Dean of the Court and pioneer Judge; Hon. Justice Anthony Benin (Ghana), Member of the Court and a pioneer Judge; Hon. Justice Clotilde Nougbode Medegan (Benin), Member of the Court; and Hon. Justice Eliam Potey (Cote D’Ivoire), Member of the Court.

 THE EXTERNAL COURT SESSION OF THE COMMUNITY COURT OF JUSTICE, ECOWAS HELD IN LOME – TOGOLESE REPUBLIC

The Community Court of Justice, ECOWAS, held its External Court Session at the Supreme Court of the Togolese Republic from the 10th to 14th February, 2014.  The External Session, which takes place at least once in a year is done pursuant to Article 26 of the 1991 Protocol, which empowers the Court to sit, outside the Seat of the Court, in the territory of any Member State.This is intended principally to bring Justice closer to the Community Citizens and to increase visibility of the Court in the discharge of its mandate. The Court had previously held External Sessions in Mali, Niger, Burkina Faso, Benin, and Ibadan, a city outside its Seat in Abuja, Nigeria.

 ECOWAS COURT ORGANISES RADIO AND TELEVISION SENSITISATION PROGRAMMES IN THE GAMBIA & GUINEA

The Community Court of Justice, ECOWAS, held Radio and Television Sensitisation Programmes in Banjul, The Gambia, and Conakry, Guinea from July 21st to July 27th, 2013. The scheduling of media activities in the territory of any Member State, is an annual activity of the Court, and it is facilitated by the Ministry in charge of Integration and the National Unit of the Member State.

 ECOWAS COURT HOLDS ITS 5TH JUDICIAL RETREAT IN BENIN

The Community Court of Justice, ECOWAS held its 5th Judicial Retreat in Cotonou, Republic of Benin from the 8th to 11th of July, 2013. The theme was Measures and Strategies for Effective Service Delivery in Legal Research, Library Services and Communications.


The Judicial Retreat is an important annual activity of the Community Court of Justice, ECOWAS, aimed at reviewing processes and activities with the objective of improving efficiency of the Court.
