 NEWLY APPOINTED ECOWAS COMMISSIONERS VISIT THE COMMUNITY COURT OF JUSTICE

In the course of establishing initial contacts with other ECOWAS Institutions, the newly appointed Commissioners of the ECOWAS Commission paid a visit to the Community Court of Justice on 3rd February, 2012.

The visit afforded the new Commissioners the opportunity to acquaint themselves with the major role of the Community Courtas guarantor of the respect for legality in the regional integration process and guardian of Human Rights within the ECOWAS.

 ECOWAS COURT SENSITIZES COMMUNITY CITIZENS IN IBADAN, OYO STATE

A delegation of seven persons led by the President of the ECOWAS Court of Justice, Hon. Justice Awa Nana Daboya was in Ibadan, Oyo State from 11th to 16th December, 2011 to carry out a sensitization campaign aimed at creating awareness amongst Community citizens about the existence, functions and activities of the Court.

 THE ECOWAS COURT HOLDS SENSITIZATION PROGRAMME IN LAGOS

The Court of Justice of the Economic Community of West African States (ECOWAS) has concluded its sensitization programme in Lagos, Lagos State of Nigeria. The programme is part of efforts began since 2004 to sensitize Community citizens across the Sub-region about the competence and functions of the Court.

 THE REPUBLIC OF NIGERIA DESIGNATES THE COMPETENT NATIONAL AUTHORITHY RESPONSIBLE FOR IMPLEMENTING DECISIONS OF THE COURT.

In a correspondence which reached the President of the Community Court of Justice, ECOWAS on 9 June 2011, the Federal Republic of Nigeria announced that it had designated The Minister of Justice as the competent National Authority responsible for implementing decisions of the Community Court of Justice, ECOWAS.
