 THE ECOWAS COURT CONCLUDES SENSITIZATION PROGRAMME IN MEMBER STATES

The Court of Justice of the Economic Community of West African States(ECOWAS) has ended its sensitization programme to create awareness among institutions and Community Citizens about its functions and activities across the sub-region in Benin, Edo State of Nigeria.
The President of the Court Hon. Justice Awa Nana Daboya lead a delegation of seven persons from the Court to conduct the programme in ancient Benin city the Capital of Edo State between 26th and 30th March, 2012.

 THE ECOWAS COURT OF JUSTICE CONCLUDES THREE-DAY VISIT TO THE UNITED NATIONS INTERNATIONAL CRIMINAL TRIBUNAL.

In view of giving opportunity to the Community Court of Justice, ECOWAS to learn of the best practices developed by the International Criminal Tribunal for Rwanda (ICTR), a delegation of the Court led by its President Honorable Justice Awa Nana Daboya held working sessions in Arusha, from 19 to 21 March 2012.
During the three day-visit, various meetings were held with senior officials of the Tribunal including the ICTR Vice-President Judge Florence Rita Arrey, the Prosecutor Mr. Hassan Bubacar Jallow and the Registrar Mr. Adama Dieng.

 UNDP PROMISES ASSISTANCE TO ECOWAS COURT OF JUSTICE

The promise was made during the working visit by Mr. Félix Loiteohin Ye, Programme Officer for Democratic Governance at the UNDP West and Central Africa Regional Office, based in Dakar, to the Court on Monday, 27 February, 2012.

According to Mr. Loiteohin Ye, the activities for which the Court expressed need for funding are indeed in line with UNDP priorities. He indicated that the UNDP West and Central Africa Regional Office is currently running a five-year (2010-2015) regional programme to support regional and continental structures in improving democratic governance.
