 ECOWAS COMMISSION SENSITISES ECOWAS COURT ON EBOLA DISEASE

The Vice-President of ECOWAS Commission, Dr. Toga Gayewea McIntosh accompanied by Mr. Joao José Silva Monteiro, the Commissioner for Human Resources and Dr. Mariane J. Ngoulla, the Health Adviser in the office of the President of ECOWAS Commission conducted a      sensitization on the threats posed by Ebola Virus in ECOWAS Court on 6th of August 2014.


The meeting which was chaired by the Vice -President of the Court, Hon. Justice Friday Chijoke Nwoke was aimed at sharing information about the disease on its developments, symptom, incubation period and precautions.

 HANDOVER CEREMONY HELD AT ECOWAS COURT

The handover ceremony held at the ECOWAS Court of Justice on the 6th of July, 2014 marked the ceremonial Transfer of Authority between the outgoing President, Hon. Justice Awa Nana Daboya and the newly elected President, Hon. Justice Maria Do Ceu Silva Monteiro.  The event, which was held at the Seat of the Court in Abuja, Nigeria, had in attendance Hon. Justice Friday Chijoke Nwoke, Vice-President of the Court; Hon. Justice Micah Wilkins Wright, Member of the Court; Mr. Tony Anene-Maidoh, Chief Registrar; various Heads of Departments and Units, and some members of staff.

 NEW PRESIDENT OF ECOWAS COURT MEETS WITH KEY STAFF MEMBERS

Hon. Justice Maria Do Ceu Monteiro Silva, newly elected President of the Court, met with some Heads of Departments and Divisions of the Court on the 27th of June, 2014. Her Lordship was accompanied by the other Members of the new Bureau of the Court - Hon. Justice Friday Chijoke Nwoke (Vice President) and Hon. Justice Jérôme Traoré (Dean).

In her address, she called for team spirit and sincerity among the management, and staff of the Court.

 PRESIDENT OF COURT ADMINISTERS OATH OF OFFICE ON 7 NEW COMMISSIONERS

The newly elected President of the ECOWAS Court of Justice, Her Lordship Maria Do Ceu Monteiro Silva, has administered an oath of office on seven new Commissioners of the expanded ECOWAS Commission.


The swearing-in ceremony, which was held during the 72nd Session of the ECOWAS Council of Ministers in Accra, Ghana, on the 19th of June, 2014, was witnessed by the Chairperson of the ECOWAS Council of Ministers and Ghana’s Minister of External Affairs, H.E. Hanna Serwaa Tetteh; President of the ECOWAS Commission, H.E. Kadré Désiré Ouédraogo;
