 ECOWAS COURT COMPLETES TRAINING SESSION FOR BAR ASSOCIATION OF BENIN REPUBLIC


The ECOWAS Court of Justice, represented by two of its Judges, Hon. Hansine DONLI and Hon. Clotilde Médégan NOUGBODE, completed a training session it organized for the Bar Association of Benin Republic. The training, which lasted two days, was held from 19 to 20 November 2012 at the Centre de Documentation et d’ Information Juridique (CDIJ) of the Ministry of Justice, Cotonou, Republic of Benin.

 TOWARDS THE INSTITUTIONNALISATION OF AN ECOWAS MONITORING AND EVALUATION SYSTEM


Upon request from the ECOWAS Court of Justice, the Monitoring and Evaluation Unit attached to the Vice-President of the ECOWAS Commission organised, with the technical and financial support from GIZ, two information sessions on Result- Based Management (RBM) and Result-Based Monitoring and Evaluation (RBM&E) for the judges of the Court, professional staff of the Court who are jurists, as well as staff from the library and documentation division.

 THE ACCRA INTERNATIONAL CONFERENCE CALLS FOR STRENGTHENED PARTNERSHIPS WITH THE ECOWAS COMMUNITY COURT OF JUSTICE FOR THE PROMOTION OF DEMOCRACY, GOOD GOVERNANCE AND HUMAN RIGHTS IN THE SUB-REGION


At the Community Court of Justice, ECOWAS, International Conference, co-hosted with UNDP, participants called for active support for the ECOWAS Court to function effectively in the promotion of democracy, good governance and human rights in the sub-region. The theme for the conference was “Democracy, Good Governance and Human Rights: The Role of the ECOWAS Community Court.”

 UNHCR REPRESENTATIVE TO NIGERIA AND THE ECOWAS PAID A COURTESY VISIT TO THE ECOWAS COURT

Mme Angèle Dikongué-Atangana, the Representative of the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees, UNHCR, to Nigeria and ECOWAS paid a courtesy visit to the Court on 12th October 2012.

Mme Dikongué underlined the fact that it was her first visit after assuming her functions at the UNHCR in Nigeria. She referred to the existing collaboration her organisation has been enjoying with ECOWAS and promised to enhance and further that collaboration with the Court.
