New year 2019 Message of the President of the Court to staff


On behalf of the Community Court of Justice, I wish to welcome you back from the Xmas break and wish you the best in the New Year. I hope you had a restful holiday and refreshed for the challenges ahead.

During the year 2018, the Court made history with the filing of 61 new cases, the highest in a single year in its history and evidence of the increasing confidence in the Court and its appeal among citizens as a recourse mainly for the violation of their human rights. The number of judgements also increased to 31, higher than the 19 for 2017 and the 29 delivered in 2016. The number of Court sessions also improved significantly, increasing to 85, up from 79 in 2017 although much lower than the 105 held in 2016, which was also a historic high in the Court’s history.

altCOURT REJECTS MOTION FOR PROVISIONAL MEASURE ON A CASE BROUGHT BY THREE JUSTICES OF THE REPUBLIC OF GHANA AGAINST THE GOVERNMENT

The ECOWAS Court has denied an application for interim measures filed by three justices of the High Court of Ghana in which they asked for an order suspending an ongoing disciplinary procedure against them by the government of Ghana until the determination of their case against the government with the Court.
