THE ECOWAS COURT OF JUSTICE HOLDS TRAINING WORKSHOP IN BURKINA FASO

Hon. Justice Jérôme Traoré, President of the Community Court of Justice, ECOWAS, at the head of a delegation of seven (7) members, will be visiting the Capital of Burkina Faso from 7 to 10 February 2017. The objective of the mission is to hold a training workshop for legal practitioners in Burkina Faso.

The general theme of the program borders on "Litigation before the ECOWAS Court of Justice". It is broken down into three sub-themes, such as "General Introduction to Community Justice and Presentation of the ECOWAS Court of Justice"; "Introduction and conduct of proceedings, representation before the Court and management of emergency procedures"; "Applicable law, preliminary ruling proceedings, judicial remedies, jurisprudence of the Court and execution of judgments".

This program would enable participants to familiarize themselves with the procedure before the Court and its practice. All the speeches will be punctuated with case-law references and national authorities invited to fully assume their role in the execution of judgments of the Court and preliminary ruling proceedings.

The opening ceremony will be marked by three speeches such as the speech of the President of the Bar Association of Burkina Faso; The speech of the Hon. President of the ECOWAS Court of Justice and finally the opening speech of the Minister of Justice.

Invited to participate in this workshop on the functioning of the Community Court are Judges, judicial officers and other legal practitioners in the country.
