DELEGATION OF ECOWAS COURT ARRIVES ENUGU ON MONDAY FOR SENSITIZATION CAMPAIGN IN THE STATE
A five-member delegation of the ECOWAS Court of Justice arrives in Enugu on Sunday, 13th October 2019 for a five day sensitization campaign designed to improve public awareness of the Court in the State.
The delegation is led by Honorable Justice Dupe Atoki, one of the five judges of the Court and also includes the Chief Registrar, Mr. Tony Anene-Maidoh, Mrs. Franca Ofor, a staff of the Research Department of the Court as well as two other staff.
Justice Atoki explained that through the mission, the Court intends to bring the Community institution closer to the citizens in recognition of their crucial role in the ECOWAS integration process.
“The objective of the mission, which is part of a broader communication campaign of the Court, is to use the platform of the media to sensitize a large section of the population about the mission, competences and activities of the Court,” the judge added.
During the campaign, the delegation will engage with the media, mainly through live radio and television programmes as well as hold a press conference on the competence, access and jurisprudence of the Court.
The delegation is also expected to pay courtesy visits to His Excellency, Governor Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi, the Chief Judge of the State, the Attorney General and Commissioner for Justice.
It will also pay courtesy calls on the Dean, Faculty of Law of the University of Nigeria, Enugu campus and hold working sessions with the Law Students, judges of the State and members of the state chapter of the Nigerian Bar Association.
The delegation also includes a staff of the Court’s Communication Unit, Mr Koffi Kouchanou and Mrs Margaret Azinkpali of the Administration and Finance Department.
